THURSDAY, FEB. 25

PRESENTATION: The Friends of the Village Library will host the program ``Hiking the John Muir Trail _ Slide Show and Talk’’ by Barbara and Bill Harman at 7:30 p.m. at the Cooperstown Village Library building downstairs meeting room.

SATURDAY, FEB. 27

HIKE: A guided moonlight snowshoe hike will be held at Betty & Wilbur Davis State Park in Westford. Participants are being asked to meet at 7 p.m. sharp in the pavilion parking lot and Joe Ritton, park employee, will lead the hike to Cabin No. 3 where participants can warm up and enjoy refreshments provided by the Friends of Glimmerglass State Park. Ritton will then resume the hike leading participants back to the pavilion parking lot. For more information contact Glimmerglass State Park at 547-8662.

LUNCHEON: Fourth annual Empty Bowls Luncheon to benefit the Cooperstown Food Bank from noon to 2 p.m. at the Hoffman Lane Bistro, features fresh bread and soup served in handthrown pottery bowls. A $15 donation will be charged. For additional information, call Donna Bailey Mackie 547-9359.

BENEFIT: The Farmers’ Museum will host an evening of music, food, and activities called ``Heat Up The Night’’ from 6 to 9 p.m. in the museum’s Louis C. Jones Center. The benefit will raise funds needed to provide museum programming for area schools. Adult tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets for kids ages 13 to 18 are $5 and kids 12 and under are free. For more information or to order tickets by phone, call Karen Wyckoff at 547-1410.

FIELD TRIP: Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society field trip looking for Short-eared Owls. Participants will meet and leave from the Cooperative Extension Building in Cooperstown at 3:00 p.m.

The building is on Lake St (NY 80) at the north edge of the village. Dress appropriately for the weather. Although there will be minimal walking, it can be windy. Any questions, call Bob Donnelly at 607-264-8156.

DINNER: The Fly Creek United Methodist Church Annual Indian Dinner. Seatings will be at 6 and 8 pm. Reservations are requested by calling 547-2133, 547-9746 or email megk@oecblue.com.

Suggested donation $20. All proceeds go toáthe Fly Creek United Methodist Church.

MONDAY, MARCH 1

EVENT: The League of Women Voters Meet the Candidates Night at 7 p.m. in the Otsego County courthouse. Candidates for village mayor, trustee and justice in March election have been invited to participate.

FRIDAY, MARCH 5

DANCE: The Otsego Dance Society will hold a contradance from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown. Performing will be The Russet Band; Fern Marshall Bradley will be calling. Dancing will begin at 8 p.m. and continue until 11 p.m. Suggested donation is $8 for adults, $4 for students and teen-agers and free for children 12 and under.

DANCE: The Doubleday Dancers Western Square Dance Club of Cooperstown will hold a St. Patrick’s Day Dance at the Cooperstown Elementary School on Walnut Street. The event will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Ray Taylor will call Mainstream and Plus dances and Elma Taylor will Cue. Admission will be $10 per couple, which is payable at the door. TUESDAY, MARCH 9

MEETING: The Women’s Club of Cooperstown meeting at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Church Parish House, 69 Fair Street. Following the brief business meeting, the afternoon’s program, ``A Rose is a Rose Floral Arrangement,’’ will be presented by Jackie Hull. The meeting is open to members of the club and their guests as well as any community members who are interested in this month’s program.
