THURSDAY, MAY 27

EVENT: A Wildflower Walk at Gilbert Lake State Park, led by Jean Miller of the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society, rain or shine. Meet at the visitor center at the north (far) end of the lake at 10 a.m., where there is a large parking lot. Or opt for the closer parking lotáhalf way around at the south end by the pavilion. FRIDAY, MAY 28 

EVENT: The Greater Milford Historical Association will be opening the historical Sayre House Museum and Store for the season. Located on North Main Street, Route 28N in Milford, the Sayre House has been restored and furnished with period antiques and artifacts. The opening party features light snacks and beverages, and will be accompanied by a jam session of local musicians. The event is planned to run from 7 to 9:00  p.m. Community members are all invited to attend and bring a snack dish to pass, if desired. SATURDAY, MAY 29

MARKET: Cooperstown Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with 30 vendors. Located in Pioneer Alley off 101 Main St, Cooperstown. (607)547-6195.

EVENT: Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 123 Lake St., Cooperstown. Featuring perennials, annuals, vegetables and herb plants. For more information or donations, contact the Master Gardener office at 607-547-2536 Ext. 228.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2

EVENT: The Cooperstown Criterion Club’s June meeting will feature the annual steak roast at 6:30 p.m. at the Cooperstown Vet’s Club.

Members need to bring their own place setting. The price for the dinner is $15. To make reservations, contact Joan Butler at 547-8674.

REGISTRATION: Registration for the Hartwick Summer Program will be held on from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hartwick Town Hall. For more information, call Michelle Dibble at 293-7718.

FRIDAY, JUNE 4

DANCE: The Otsego Dance Society will hold a contradance from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown. Performing will be Bernd Neumann, Rob Grassi, and Carol Mandigo, with Ridge Kennedy calling.

Dancing will begin at 8 p.m. and continue until 11 p.m.

Suggested donation is $8 for adults, $4 for students and teen-agers and free for children 12 and under. The Presbyterian Church is on the corner of Pioneer and Church Streets. For more information call (607) 965-8232 or (315) 272-6110

SATURDAY, JUNE 5

SALE: Pierstown Grange Yard Sale, 137 Wedderspoon Hollow Road, Cooperstown from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the downstairs of the hall. Proceeds will benefit the Grange Hall Improvement Fund.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16

FILM: At 7 pm, the documentary ``Gasland’’ will be shown in the Cooperstown Central High School Auditorium on Linden Avenue.

``Gasland’’ tells the story of the effects of the largest domestic natural gas drilling boom in history that has swept across the United States and is poised to enter upstate New York. Director Josh Fox will comment on the film and take questions afterwards. The showing is open to the public; donations will be accepted.
