Thursday, Feb. 10

PROGRAM: The Smithy Community Art Night program from 6 to 8 p.m. Each week, area artists will be on hand to share a different skill and help create a special project. Friday, Feb. 11

Winter Carnival

LUNCHEON: The First Baptist Church of Cooperstown will hold a Soup and Chili Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Prices are: adults $7, children 11 and younger $4.50 and free for those under three years of age. The church is at 19 Elm St.

DANCE: The Doubleday Dancers Western Square Dance Club will hold its Valentine’s Day Dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the Cooperstown Elementary School. Admission is $10 per couple payable at the door. For more information, call either of the following phone numbers: 264-8128, or 547-8665.

FILM: The seventh annual Cabin Fever Film Series continues on Friday with “Lilo & Stitch” (PG for mild action, 2002). Running time: 85 minutes. Location: National Baseball Hall of Fame, Grandstand Theater. BREAKFAST: Members of the Lions and Leos Clubs will be serving at their annual pancake breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cooperstown Veteran’s Club on Main Street. All proceeds support local community service projects.

MARKET: Cooperstown Farmers Market featuring winter vegetables, fresh greens, meat, poultry, eggs, cheese, baked goods, jams, crafts, syrup, and more from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Market is located behind Key Bank, 101 Main St., Cooperstown. For information, call 607-547-6195.

DINNER: The Cooperstown United Methodist Church will host a lasagna dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Menu includes meat or vegetarian lasagna, pasta with marinara, sausage, meatballs, salad, bread and beverage and topped off with a chocolate brownie dessert. Dinners are $9 for adults and $5 for children. The church is located at 66 Chestnut St. at the corner of Glen Avenue in Cooperstown.

SUPPER: Spaghetti Supper to benefit the Susquehanna SPCA will be held at Templeton Hall, 63 Pioneer St., starting promptly at 5 p.m. with servings available until 8 p.m. A cash bar is available. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6 and under and are available at the door. Sunday, Feb. 13 Winter Carnival

EVENT : The 12th annual Cheesecake Tasting Contest from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St. as part of the Cooperstown Winter Carnival Weekend. There is a $5 admission charge for the tasting to raise money for the Double H Hole in the Woods Ranch in Lake Luzerne, New York, a camp for children with cancer, birth defects, and life threatening illnesses.

Tuesday, Feb. 15

PROGRAM: The First Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown will host a Film, Text and Talk gathering to discuss the non-fiction book “Wandering Home: A Long Walk Across America’s Most Hopeful Landscape” in the Congregational Lounge, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The book was written by Bill McKibben, noted environmental speaker, author and activist. Public invited, call 547-8401 for information.

Wednesday, Feb. 16

FORUM: The Otsego County Conservation Association will sponsor a gas drilling forum on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School. “Gas Drilling: What You Need to Know” will focus on geology and hydrofracking science, New York State law, and local options. This event begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

PROGRAM: The educational program of the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society for will feature “The New York State Kestrel Project” presented by Jillian Liner, Director of Bird Conservation for Audubon New York. The free program will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Elm Park Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut St., Oneonta. Refreshments will be served. EVENT : Guided snowshoe and cross-country ski along the beautiful moonlit Andy’s Trail (2.7 miles) at Betty & Wilbur Davis State Park in Westford.

Meet at 7 p.m. sharp in the pavilion parking lot and Joe Ritton, park employee, will lead the hike to a cabin where you can warm up and enjoy refreshments provided by the Friends of Glimmerglass State Park.
