Thurs., Nov. 19

PRESENTATION — ``Day of Rage: A view from the streets in the 60s and 70s’’ is the title of a talk by George Hymans to be presented to the Cooperstown Friends of the Library at 7:30 p.m.

Hymas, a resident of Pierstown and a former firefighter in Essex, New Jersey, will discuss civil unrest, its causes, aftermath and the daily life of a firefighter during the period of civil unrest in the City of Newark and the surrounding communities.

Friday, Nov. 20

PROGRAM — Educational meeting of the Delaware- Otsego Audubon Society will feature the pika, a rabbit-related creature living in the alpine regions of the Rockies, whose fragile ecosystem is being threatened by Climate Change.

The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Elm Park Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, and refreshments will be served.

Sat., Nov. 21

TOUR — Otsego 2000 tour of four Otsego County dairy farms. Participants will see dairy operations and hear local perspectives on the dairy crisis at hand. The tour is open to the public at no charge. The self driven tour will start at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. Maps and directions will be available and an optional stop for lunch is included. Reservations requested. LUNCHEON — Cooperstown United Methodist Church will host a ``Get to Know Your Neighbors’’ Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friends and neighbors in the community are invited to join members of the congregation for food, fellowship and games. Participants are asked to bring a sandwich; soup, dessert and beverage will be provided. The luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Room. The church is located at 66 Chestnut Street, corner of Glen Avenue in Cooperstown.

DINNER — Brooks Barbeque Chicken Dinner at Christ Episcopal Church from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. to support the upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic by the Global Mission Team.

The dinner will be held in the Parish House, located at 69 Fair Street, Cooperstown and will feature Brooks chicken as well as coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, roll, dessert and beverage. Both half chicken dinners, at $8.50 and quarter chicken dinners, at $5, will be available as will be take-out meals. Sun., Nov. 22

BREAKFAST — The Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a community breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. in the firehouse on Chestnut Street. All are welcome. A freewill donation will be accepted.

SERVICE — Annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will at 7 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown, located on Pioneer Street. An Ecumenical Choir under the direction of Katie Boardman will sing, ``Thank You, Lord.’’

Peter Deysenroth will serve as organist. The sermon will be offered by Miriam Hathaway and is entitled, ``Give Thanks to the Lord.’’ Following worship a time of fellowship will be held in the church chapel.

DECORATING — The 4Cs (Cooperstown Community Christmas Committee) invites residents to help decorate Santa’s cottage and the village lampposts for the holidays. All decorations will be provided; participants are asked to bring wirecutters, gloves and ladders, if available. Meet in Pioneer Park at 2 p.m. To reserve a pole, call Meg Kiernan at 547-8208.
