Thurs., Nov. 12

DINNER — The Cooperstown SADD/Booster Club Spaghetti Dinner will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. It is the opening night of the high school musical, West Side Story. SADD members will pre-sell tickets or members of the public can pay at the door. The cost is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for children under 12.

WORKSHOP — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chenango County workshop on wood heat and firewood harvesting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at, 99 North Broad Street, Norwich. The workshop fee is $5 for individuals and $2 for each additional member of a household. Registration is required. Call 334-5841.

HARVEST DANCE — Doubleday Dancers Western Square Dance Club of Cooperstown will hold its Harvest Dance - Pie Night at the Cooperstown elementary school on Walnut Street from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Ray Taylor will call Mainstream and Plus dances and Emma Taylor Will Cue. DINNER — Cooperstown United Methodist Church Harvest Dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dinners are $8.00 for adults and $5 for children. Take-out orders are available. Call (607) 547-9540 for information. The church is located at 66 Chestnut Street at the corner of Glen Avenue in Cooperstown. The building is handicapped accessible.

RECITAL — The Oneonta Chapter of American Guild of Organists will sponsor an autumn recital of organ music by Roberta Rowland-Raybold, organist and choirmaster at Christ Church, Cooperstown, at 3 p.m. The organist will present historic information on the literature being performed in a pre-concert lecture in the St. Agnes Chapel of Christ Church at 2:30 p.m.

CONCERT — The Catskill Valley Wind Ensemble fall concert at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, Oneonta. The concert is free and open to the public, with donations accepted. First United Methodist Church, at the corner of Chestnut and Church in Oneonta, is fully accessible to those with handicaps. For more information, call 432-7085.

PRESENTATION — John Phillips of Fly Creek will be guest speaker at the November meeting of the Fly Creek Area Historical Society at 7 p.m. at the Fly Creek Methodist Church in Fly Creek. His talk will be ``Three Hundred and Fifty Years of Firearms.’’ The meeting is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

PRESENTATION — ``Day of Rage: A view from the streets in the 60s and 70s’’ is the title of a talk by George Hymans to be presented to the Cooperstown Friends of the Library at 7:30 p.m. Hymas, a resident of Pierstown and a former firefighter in Essex, New Jersey, will discuss civil unrest, its causes, aftermath and the daily life of a firefighter during the period of civil unrest in the City of Newark and the surrounding communities.

Friday, Nov. 20

PROGRAM — Educational meeting of the Delaware- Otsego Audubon Society will feature the pika, a rabbit-related creature living in the alpine regions of the Rockies, whose fragile ecosystem is being threatened by Climate Change. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Elm Park Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, and refreshments will be served. TOUR — Otsego 2000 tour of four Otsego County dairy farms. Participants will see dairy operations and hear local perspectives on the dairy crisis at hand. The tour is open to the public at no charge. The selfdriven tour will start at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m. Maps and directions will be available and an optional stop for lunch is included. Reservations requested. DINNER — Brooks Barbeque Chicken Dinner at Christ Episcopal Church from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m to support the upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic by the Global Mission Team. The dinner will be held in the Parish House, located at 69 Fair Street, Cooperstown and will feature Brooks chicken as well as coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, roll, dessert and beverage. Both half chicken dinners, at $8.50 and quarter chicken dinners, at $5.00, will be available as will be take-out meals.
