Friday, Nov. 6

CONTRADANCE — The Otsego Dance Society will host a contradance atáthe Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown.áMusicians Ms. Marty & SGB from Ithaca will be performing. Singles and beginners are welcomed as no dance experience or partner is necessary.

Dancing will begin at 8 p.m. and continue until 11:00 p.m.áAdmission is $7 for adults, $2 for teen-agers and free for children 12 and under. The Presbyterian Church is on the corner of Pioneer and Church Streets.áFor more information call Karen Spink at (607) 264-8156.

Sat., Nov. 7

SHOW — Greater Oneonta Historic Society’s annual Holiday Antique Show and Appraisal Clinic at St. Mary’s School on Route 7 in Oneonta from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over twenty dealers will sell antiques and collectibles, including ephemera, glass, textiles, furniture, and more. From 1 to 3:30 p.m., appraisals will be conducted by Kevin Herrick and Marty Brownell for $5.00 per item. EVENT — Fenimore Art Museum will launch the first annual ``Night at Our Museum,’’ a celebration of the arts — for families. Activities get underway at 7 p.m. and include live music, participatory art experiences, tours with costumed guides, food tastings, and movie shorts. Cost: Adults: $5; Kids: Free (17 and under); NYSHA Members: Free. No reservations are necessary. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

CONCERT — The annual Hartwick College Choral Festival will bring together 400 singers and lovers of Gospel Music. The performance will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Lambros Arena, Binder Physical Education Center on the Hartwick College campus.

Admission is $10 per person, or $20 for a family of two or more.

CONCERT — Modern folk icon John Gorka performs at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown at 7:30 p.m. show.

Gorka’sájust-released album, ``So Dark You See’’ is his first work in three years, and has already garnered great reviews. Tickets can be purchased in the Cooperstown area at Ellsworth & Sill, The Sage Center, and the Fly Creek General Store.

DINNER — The United Methodist Church of Milford is hosting its annual Chicken and Biscuits Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. The dinner will be held in the the church on Rt. 28, North Main Street, in Milford. Dinner will be served family- style and will include chicken and gravy, biscuits, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, beverages and homemade pie.

Requested donations for the dinner are $8 for adults and $5 for children 5-10 years old. Children under 5 are free.

Sunday, Nov. 8

CONCERT — The Oneonta Community Concert Band will present its annualáSalute to Veterans concert at 3:00 p.m. The concert will take place in the Oneonta Theatre, 47 Chestnut St.

The Theatre is handicapped accessible. The concert is free and open to the public. Contributions to help support the band will be accepted. For more information, call 432-7977.

Tues., Nov. 10

MEETING — The Women’s Club of Cooperstown will hold its meeting 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Parish House, 69 Fair Street.

Following a brief business meeting, the afternoon’s program will be ``Glimmerglass Behind the Scenes’’ presented by Britney Lesavoy and Deb Shippee. The meeting is open to members of the club and their guests as well as any community members who are interested in this month’s program.

SUPPER — Cherry Valley United Methodist Church Veterans’ Day Pancake and French Toast Supper from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.

at the church on Main Street. Supper includes allyou- can-eat pancakes, French toast, sausage, eggs, applesauce, donuts and beverages. Donations will be accepted.

Thurs., Nov. 12

DINNER — The Cooperstown SADD/Booster Club Spaghetti Dinner will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. It is the opening night of the high school musical, West Side Story. SADD members will pre-sell tickets or members of the public can pay at the door. The cost is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for children.

WORKSHOP — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chenango County workshop on wood heat and firewood harvesting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 99 North Broad Street, Norwich. The fee is $5 for individuals, $2 for each additional member. of a household.
