BLOOD DRIVE: There will
be an American Red Cross
blood drive at Bassett Healthcare
from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.
in the Bassett Hall Auditorium
at the intersection of Beaver
and Pioneer Streets. To
register for a donation time,
call the Clinical Laboratory
office at 607-547-6933. Appointments
are preferred, but
walk-ins are welcome.
FRIDAY, JAN. 8
FILM: Cabin Fever Film
Series at 7 p.m. ``A Soldier’s
Daughter Never Cries’’ (R for
language, 1998) Running
time: 124 minutes, Location:
Fenimore Art Museum
Auditorium. The film screenings
are free and open to the
public. Doors open at 6:30
p.m., and patrons should use
the main entrances at both
locations. Refreshments will
be available for purchase.

CONTRADANCE: The
Otsego Dance Society will
hold a contradance from 8 to
11 p.m. at the Presbyterian
Church in Cooperstown.
Rosie’s Ready Mix, Curt
Osgood, Hope Grietzer and
John Wobus, will be performing.
áCalling the dances will
be Gary Aney. Dancing will
begin at 8 p.m. and continue
until 11 p.m. Suggested donation
is $8- to $10 for adults,
$2 for teen-agers and free for
children 12 and under. The

CONCERT: The Cooperstown
Leo Club will hold its
annual concert, ``Dentist Unplugged’’
at 7:00 p.m., in the
Sterling Auditorium at the
Cooperstown Middle/High
School. Dr. Paul Weber will
perform works from James
Taylor, Paul Simon, Bruce
Springsteen, Neil Young, Cat
Stevens, Bob Dylan, the Beatles
and more, accompanying
himself on acoustic guitar.

by donation,
SATURDAY, JAN. 9
BOTTLE DRIVE: Cooperstown
Scout Troop 1254 will
conduct its monthly bottle
drive. Recyclable bottles and
cans may be placed out on
the curb starting at 9 a.m. for
pickup.
EVENT: Annual Delaware-
Otsego Audubon Society
field trip to view wintering
Bald Eagles. The trip visits
rivers and reservoirs in Delaware
County where the birds
concentrate to feed. There
will be a stop at a local restaurant
for lunch for interested
participants. The trip will
leave the Dietz St. parking
lot across from the YMCA in
Oneonta at 8 a.m. Carpooling
is strongly encouraged and
participants can be picked up
en route in Delhi and Walton.
Return trip to Oneonta will
be mid- to late afternoon. For

CONCERT: The Cooperstown
Concert Series will
present Crooked Still at 7:30
p.m. in the Sterling Auditorium
at Cooperstown Middle/
High School. Featured at
many prestigious festivals,
such as Newport Folk and
Shetland, this quintet makes
one of their first central New
York appearances. Individual
tickets for each show are $20
for adults, $15 for seniors
(62 and older), and $5 for
students 13 and older.
Students 12 and under are
admitted free with a paid
adult. Tickets can be purchased
in the Cooperstown
area at Ellsworth & Sill, the
Fly Creek General Store, and
SEFCU Credit Union. Tickets
are also usually available at
the door, or by calling (607)
547-1812.
SUNDAY, JAN. 10
PARTY: Cooperstown’s
Friends of the Parks invites
the community to a ``Think
Rink’’ party to celebrate the
recent changes to the Badger
Park skating rink. The party
will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the
Badger Park Rink (located
behind the Great American
with an entrance on Beaver
Street) and is open to skaters
of all ages.
HIKE: Five-mile Winter/
Snowshoe Hike in the Robert
V. Riddell State Park to Mud
Lake and back. This event is
free and open to the public.
The hike will begin at 12:30
p.m. Participants should
dress warmly and bring their
own snowshoes, water, and
snacks. Walkers are welcome.
