Thurs., Aug. 6

SHOW — The Lake and Valley Garden Club flower show in the Louis Jones Center at The FarmersÆ Museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Public invited. No charge.

CONCERT — Free Concert: Flute Fest at the Otesaga, 7:30 p.m., Otesaga Resort Hotel, Cooperstown. A free concert featuring highly accomplished performers from the New York Summer Music FestivalÆs International Flute Institute. The concert is part of the Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival.

CLASS — The Friends of Glimmerglass State Park will offer Food Preservation techniques from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the Lakeview Room at Glimmerglass State Park. CONCERT — A Jazz Concert featuring the Diane Wicks-Miller Jazz Quartet & special guest trumpeter from Japan: Naoto ``Clifford Brown’’ Sekimoto from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Fly Creek United Methodist Church in Downtown Fly Creek. Sat., Aug. 8

BARBECUE — The Fly Creek Fire Company will host a chicken BBQ and ``Fill the Boot Campaign’’ to benefit the Fire Company equipment fund. The event will be held at the Fly Creek Fire Hall at 11 a.m. until the chickens are sold out. BBQ chicken dinners with all the fixings will cost $7.50 and chicken halves will cost $5 each. People can eat at the fire hall or get food ``to go.’’

BARBECUE/SALE — Chicken Barbecue at Pierstown Grange Hall as well as a tag sale on the lawn, 137 Wedderspoon Hollow Road, Serving from 4:30 p.m. on. Eat in or take out. Adults $8, + chicken $5, Child under 12, $5. Call 264-3069 for information.

EVENT — The Fenimore Art Museum’s second annual celebration of the relationship between artists and landscape called ``A Taste of the Sublime’’from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the museum’s back lawn.

Sunday, Aug. 9

CONCERT — The Oneonta Community Concert Band will present its annual Teddy Bears Picnic concert at p.m. The concert will take place in the upper pavilion of Wilber Park. The concert will be rain or shine.

CONCERT — Fiddlers & Friends: A String-along Concert, 4 p.m. at the Middlefield Baptist Church, Rezen Road, hamlet of Middlefield. The public is welcome. CLASS — The Roseboom Historical Association is offering art classes for children 8 to 12 years of age at the association in Roseboom from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

CONCERT — The Cherrypickers will again host the popular Folk Fest for Food to benefit the Cherry Valley Food Bank in the municipal parking lot in downtown Cherry Valley at 7 p.m.

Those in attendance are asked to bring a donation of food or money for the food bank. Lawn chairs are welcome. Rain venue is the CV Community Center.

BREAKFAST — The Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department and EAA Chapter 1070 will host a Fly-In Pancake Breakfast at the Cooperstown/Westville Airport, Route 166, Cooperstown, from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, real maple syrup, sausage and beverages. Adults $6; children under 12 are $4.

Sun., Aug. 16

PROGRAM — ``Bee Keeping — Then and Now’’ at the Old Middlefield Schoolhouse, County Highway 35, in the hamlet of Middlefield, six miles east of Cooperstown.

The program will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Part of the Summer Sundays Series 2009 hosted by the Town of Middlefield Historical Association.
