THURSDAY, AUGUST 26

BLOOD DRIVE: Bassett Healthcare will host an American Red Cross blood drives from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Bassett Hall Auditorium at the intersection of Beaver and Pioneer Streets, Cooperstown. All successful blood donors will receive a free donor T-shirt from the American Red Cross. For more information, call the Bassett Clinical Laboratory office at547-6933

CONCERT: Folk Fest for Food, free concerts, will be held in downtown Cherry Valley from 7-9 p.m. in the NBT parking lot. Food bank donations will be accepted. Sue Bladik and friends, Cosby Gibson, Mary Ann Oestman and Mike Feulner will be the feature guests. For more information, call 435-6438.

FAMILY EVENT: Music on the Library Lawn at 7 p.m. Michael Toulson, local teacher, parent, and singer will play a family-friendly program of music including folk rock favorites and songs from kids’ movies such as ``Toy Story,’’ ``Shrek,’’ and ``Curious George.’’

SATURDAY, AUGUST 28

BLOOD DRIVE: Bassett Healthcare will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at National Baseball Hall of Fame, 25 Main St., Cooperstown. Anyone who donates on Aug. 28 at the National Baseball Hall of Fame will receive free admission on that day. MARKET: Cooperstown Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with 30 vendors. Located in Pioneer Alley off 101 Main St, Cooperstown. (607)547- 6195.

WORKSHOP: Wild Edibles Workshop, 10 a.m. to Noon, Cornell Cooperative Extension, 123 Lake St., Cooperstown. Presented by Extension Master Gardeners. $3 fee. Pre-register by August 24 by calling 547- 2536 extension 0.

SALE DAY: The Fly Creek Historical Society is again sponsoring a Community Yard Sale Day. The day will begin with a pancake breakfast served at the Fly Creek Fire Hall from 7:30 to 11 a.m. The Historical Society will be offering hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks starting at 11 a.m. at the Grange Building on Cemetery Road. There will many yard sales throughout the community. Free maps will available at each yard sale _ look for the orange balloons. There will also be special sales at area businesses. Table space is available near the Grange Building for people from neighboring communities who want to have a sale. To have a sign-up sheet mailed to you, call 547-8321.

CONCERT: As part of their on-going concert series, The Smithy will present the popular bluegrass band ``The Cherry Pickers’’ at 7 p.m. Dinner and desserts provided by Danny’s Market. SUNDAY, AUG. 29

CLOTHES SWAP: The Nom Nom Buying Club will be hosting a Back-to-School Kids’ Clothes Swap on from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Hartwick Community Center on Route 11. Bring kids’ clothes of all sizes from infant to high school (meaning adult sizes in styles that would appeal to high school students.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 3

DANCE: The Otsego Dance Society will hold a contradance from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church on the corner of Pioneer and Church Streets in Cooperstown. Singles and beginners of all ages are welcome, as no dance experience or partner is necessary. All dances are taught, with more instruction for beginners during the earlier dances. Suggested donation is $8 for adults, $4 for students and teen-agers and free for children 12 and under. Call 965-8232 or (315) 272-6110 for details.
