FRIDAY, MARCH 5

DANCE: The Otsego Dance Society will hold a contradance from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown. Performing will be The Russet Band; Fern Marshall Bradley will be calling. Dancing will begin at 8 p.m. and continue until 11 p.m. Suggested donation is $8 for adults, $4 for students and teen-agers and free for children 12 and under. DANCE: The Doubleday Dancers Western Square Dance Club of Cooperstown will hold a St. Patrick’s Day Dance at the Cooperstown Elementary School on Walnut Street. The event will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Ray Taylor will call Mainstream and Plus dances and Elma Taylor will Cue. Admission will be $10 per couple, which is payable at the door. FARMERS’ MARKET: Cooperstown Farmers Market offers meats, cheeses, spices, crafts local apples, honey, maple syrup 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Located off Main Street in Pioneer Alley, Cooperstown. For info call 607-547-6195.

SUNDAY, MARCH 7

EVENT: Sugaring Off Sundays, The Farmers’ Museum’s annual event which honors the maple sugaring season. The event features historic and contemporary sugaring demonstrations, children’s activities and more. A full pancake breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with all other activities scheduled 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission to Sugaring Off Sundays is $8 for adults; $4 for children age 7 to 12; admission is free for children 6 and under. Admission includes full breakfast.

No reservations are required.

BREAKFAST: The Hartwick Fire Department will host a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser from 8 to 11 a.m. in the firehouse on County Route 11 in the hamlet of Hartwick. Proceeds will help fund the Pack 12 Cub Scout trip to Battleship Cove in June 2010. Prices are $4 for children and $7 for adults.

TUESDAY, MARCH 9

MEETING: The Women’s Club of Cooperstown meeting at 2 p.m. in the Christ Church Parish House, 69 Fair Street. Following the brief business meeting, the afternoon’s program, ``A Rose is a Rose Floral Arrangement,’’ will be presented by Jackie Hull. The meeting is open to members of the club and their guests as well as any community members who are interested in this month’s program. PRESENTATION: The Village of Cooperstown Historic Preservation and Architectural Review Board will hold an awards ceremony and reception at 7 p.m. in the village meeting room, 22 Main Street, to honor the 2007-2009 recipients of the Village Historic Preservation awards. A total of 15 awards will be presented in four categories. The public is invited to attend the ceremony and reception.

MEETING: Literary Discussion Group meeting sponsored by the Women’s Club of Cooperstown, will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Dunn Room of the Village of Cooperstown Library. The book for discussion will be ``American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House’’ by Jon Meacham. The meeting is open to the public.
