Eileen Marie Sinnott

FLY CREEK _ Eileen Marie Sinnott, passed away after a battle with cancer Jan. 10, 2012, at Otsego Manor, where she received wonderful care. She was 57. She was born Jan. 5, 1955, and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, to loving parents Victor and Anne (Collopy)  Sinnott. She attendedHoly Cross Elementary School (grades one-eight), Erasmus Hall High School and Kingsborough Community College.

She left Brooklyn in 1996, and moved to Fly Creek and the Cooperstown area to be near her parents and two of her five siblings.

She went to work for Otsego County in 1997, at the Department of Health/Public Health Nursing. A co-editor of “Healthy Otsego,” a newsletter produced by the Health Department, she enjoyed  working with the lead programand authored an article on lead poisoning prevention. She was instrumental in creating the web pages, some of which included the Child Passenger Safety Seats. Eileen was an asset at her job and will be missed by all who worked with her.

She loved to draw and create and was so gifted. Her family members are fortunate to have been the recipients of her many creations.

She devoted much of her free time to home improvement projects. If not doing improvements at her place,  she could be found doingprojects at the home of her sister, Pat. Eileen was a caring and loving daughter to her parents, Anne (Collopy) and Victor Sinnott, of Fly Creek.

She was an amazing and devoted sister, a protector to her siblings, brother, Daniel Sinnott and his wife, Cathie of Thompson, Pa.; sister, Patricia Sinnott of Toddsville; sister, Kathy and her husband, Paul Gardner of Middlefield; brother, John Sinnott and his wife, Zhayde of Long Island; and sister, Maureen Heffernan and her husband, Frank of Pennsylvania .

She was a much loved aunt to her nieces and nephews, Christopher Sinnott, Jennifer Sinnott and her fiancé, A.J. McCartney; Vito, Brooke and Cody Sinnott; Nicole, Amanda  and Frank Heffernan; greatnieceand great-nephews; and her stepnieces and stepnephew.

We were blessed to have had her in our lives and we will take comfort in knowing that she will always be with us.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Family and friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home, 82 Chestnut St., Cooperstown.

A funeral service will be offered at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Fournier, pastor of the Milford Center Community Bible Church, officiating. Immediately following the funeral, all attending are invited to join with Eileen’s family for a time of refreshment and fellowship at the Fly Creek Fire Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820 or Fly Creek Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 218, Fly Creek, NY 13337.

Arrangements are under the guidance of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

    COOPERSTOWN Janet D. Bailey, a lifelong resident of Cooperstown, died Sunday morning, May 6, 2012, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. She was 86. Born May 15, 1925, in Cooperstown, she was a daughter of Harold Lewis Davidson and Grace née Putnam Davidson. Raised in Cooperstown, she graduated from Cooperstown High School with the Class of 1942. She then went to work for the war effort doing sewing in Oneonta.

    HARTWICK _ Duane C. Hotaling, a man devoted to his family and well-known in the arena of tractor pulling, died Monday evening, Jan. 9, 2012, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. He was 66.  Born Dec. 6, 1945, in Cooperstown, he was the son of the late Howard and Margaret (Sullivan) Hotaling. After graduating from Cherry Valley Central School, Duane attended the Milwaukee Institute of Technology. After receiving his degree he stayed in the Milwaukee area and worked for Allis-Chalmers.

    Ellen Louise Haiston Rockwell, age 93, died on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, in St. Luke’s-Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. Ellen was born on Sept. 4, 1918, in Tyrone, Pa. She grew up in Pottstown, Pa., where her father, Frank Haiston, was the superintendant of schools and her mother, Elizabeth Kriner was an elementary school teacher. Her younger sister, Mary Alice Fronheiser and older brother, Frank predeceased her.
