HARTWICK _ Gerald L. (Gary) Kitson, husband of Mary Ann Kitson, died Monday morning, Aug. 15, 2011, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown following a courageous battle with liver cancer. He was 60.

Born Dec. 10, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Ind., he was the only child of Lloyd D. and Lois M. (Ramsey) Kitson. Throughout his life, he had a passion for photography and computers.

In 1986, he met Mary Ann Havrish of Stamford and the two were married on July 4, 1987.

They later moved to Florida, where they resided until moving to Hartwick three years ago. Gary will be remembered, not only for his computer expertise, but also for his great sense of humor and for being a wonderful husband and father.

Gary is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary Ann, and their two children, Cory and Sierra, all of Hartwick.

He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Helen L. Havrish; and his wife’s siblings, Suzanne Johnson and her husband, Mark, Richard Havrish, Joyce Ormsbee and her husband, Brian, George Havrish, William Havrish and his wife, Janice, and Joanne Smith and her husband, Sam; and several nieces and nephews. His parents; and two brothers- in-law, Robert and Frank Havrish, predeceased him.

Friends may call at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home, 82 Chestnut St., Cooperstown, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011. Following the visitation, a Service of Remembrance will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Betsy Jay, chaplain at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, officiating.
