COOPERSTOWN _ William Thomas Every, formerly of Goodyear Lake, died Sunday morning, Jan. 15, 2012, at Otsego Manor. He was 64.
Born July 23, 1947, in Walton, Bill was the only child of Frank Cook Every and Faith Every. He attended kindergarten and first grade in Walton and then moved to Cooperstown Junction. A graduate of Oneonta High School, Class of 1965, he attended the State University of New York Agricultural and Technical College at Delhi, and graduated in 1967, with an associate’s degree in business marketing.
Following his graduation from college, Bill had a strong desire to join the military and serve his country during the Vietnam War. But due to a disability this was not possible, so for the next year he worked for Paul Drogen. He was later employed with Bendix in Sidney, but left there in 1969, to work for Corning in Oneonta. For a brief time he left Corning to work for Beechnut in Canajoharie, but then returned to Corning. In 1972, he returned to Bendix, which later became Amphenol, and worked there for the next 27 years until he retired in September 2001.
In his leisure he enjoyed teaching hunter safety courses on Crumhorn Mountain. Since 2008, Bill has resided at Otsego Manor.
The last of his family, Bill is survived by his good friend, Terry Church, of Oneonta. Later this spring, Bill will be laid to rest near his mother and father in Lakewood Cemetery in Cooperstown.
