Cooperstown’s Caleb Edmonds did more than enough to earn Daily Star Athlete of the Year honors in track.
Home-schooled until his senior season, Edmonds broke school records in the 1,600 meters, the 3,200 and the 3,000 steeplechase. He also earned a Division II runner-up finish at the state championships and ran for a 3,200 relay team that set a program record.
Edmonds set a 3,200 record for athletes in the Daily Star’s circulation area with a time of 9 minutes, 6.67 seconds during the June 12 state meet at Vestal High’s Dick Hoover Stadium.
