Millers Mills to host Sundae Run/Walk and ice cream social

The Millers Mills Sundae Run and Fun Walk is coming on up on Sunday, July 15. The run offers a challenging out-andback USATF certified 5K course, country atmosphere and homemade ice cream, according to a media release from organizers.

Keeping pace with the latest technology, chip timing was introduced last year; this year online registration is available at www.getentered.com. Runners and walkers can also print out a registration form at www.millersmillsny.com and mail it in.

For those who are not runners, there’s a 2-mile noncompetitive fun walk and other family oriented activities to round out the day.

The entry fee is $20 for the race and $5 for the walk. The first 75 pre-registered runners are guaranteed a running shirt. Participants should note that raceday registration and packet pickup will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. only the morning of the race. Both events will start at 9:15 a.m. sharp.

The top overall finishers, age group finishers and even “the middle of the pack runner” will all receive awards. The finish line party will include live music, door prizes, and oldfashioned ice cream for all runners and walkers. The race will be followed by an Ice Cream Social featuring music (bring a chair), horse-drawn hay rides, crafts and a crosscut sawing event. Homemade ice cream, cake, hot dogs and other refreshments will be available.

The Sundae Run starts and finishes at the bridge in downtown Millers Mills, located in the town of Columbia, in southern Herkimer County. Follow the signs from state routes 20 or 28.

The race is sponsored by the Millers Mills Grange No. 581 and is part of the Route 20 Road Challenge.
