More than 100 runners participated in the Angel Network of Cooperstown’s Tot Trot and 5K race at the Clark Sports Center on Saturday.

The community-based organization raises money to help local families with children. Last year it helped 33 families with more than 70 children.

According to organizers, the fundraiser brougth in $2,400. People can still donate. Form more information, email. Cooperstownangels@yahoo.com.

Eighty children participated in the Tot Trot. The races was broken down into categories by age, with groups of 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, 5- through 6-year-olds, 7- through 8-yearolds and 9- through 12-year-olds. The children ran across the Clark sport fields, the distance based on ages. Many of the older children participated in the 5K.

Participants received a special “toe token” similar to the ones the children at Cooperstown Central School get for completing five miles on the track.

“This is a toe token,” one of the volunteers told the three-year-olds. “You’ll learn more about these when you go to school.”

Later 60 adult runners completed the 5K, or about a three-mile run that began and ended at the Clark.
