---- — Host Milford suffered through an 8-for-54 shooting night en route to a 25-22 Tri-Valley League girls basketball loss to Worcester on Monday.
The Wolverines’ Jessica Thompson snapped a 22-22 tie on a free throw with seven seconds left. Thompson missed the second free throw and the ball went out of bounds to Milford. But Worcester’s Jessica Peeters stole the inbound pass and made a layup to cap the scoring.
Cassie Sklenka and Jillian Perillo had six points apiece to pace the Wolverines. Perillo had four points in the fourth quarter, when Worcester went on a 10-4 run.
Maddy Zenir had eight points to lead Milford, which hosted Richfield Springs on Wednesday. Scores were not in by deadline.
MCS boys defeat Worcester
Peyton Griffiths’ 14 points led visiting Milford to a 57-39 Tri-Valley League boys basketball victory at Worcester on Monday, setting up a huge game Wednesday at Richfield Springs.
Results of Wednesday’s game were not in by deadline, but if Milford won, the team clinched the Tri-Valley League East Division title. If MCS lost, a playoff game will held between Milford and Richfield Springs. If that game is needed it will be played tonight at Laurens.
The East Division winner will play West Division champion Morris at 8 p.m. Saturday in the crossover final at Oneonta State.
Steven Banks contributed 11 points, including three three-pointers, for Milford on Monday.
The Wolverines were paced by J.T. Horne’s 11 points. Jordan Wood contributed 10 points for the Wolverines.
