The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum offers a wide variety of educational programs and special events throughout the year. But in the summer, the museum’s KeyBank Summer Programming Series begins – providing visitors with even more opportunities for baseball fun.
This year’s schedule, made possible with the support of KeyBank, brings back some old favorites as well as a few new programs. All programs are included with admission to the museum. The daily summer schedule, which runs today through Aug. 3 but is subject to change, is as follows:
• The Plaques of the Gallery: (10 a.m. and 3 p.m.) Visit the Hall of Fame’s Plaque Gallery to learn about the Hall of Fame election process and the history of the gallery and plaques. The program starts at the museum membership desk on the first floor.
• Today’s Kids, Tomorrow’s Legends:( 11 a.m.) Learn about what it takes to be a Hall of Famer, and then create a plaque in this program designed for children ages 10 and younger in the Sandlot Kids Clubhouse.
• Artifact Spotlight: (11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.) Get the stories behind the artifacts with this presentation in the Learning Center that focuses on the human dramaassociated with the museum’s exhibits and artifacts. Brief but entertaining, these talks are delivered by Hall of Fame staff on a daily basis, according to a media release.
• Connect with Louisville Slugger: ( 1 p.m. on Wednesdays) Find out how a Louisville Slugger is made by connecting live with the Louisville Slugger Museum for a virtual tour of the factory and a lesson in bat making in the museum’s Bullpen Theater.

• Making Airwaves: (1 p.m. Fridays - Mondays) Recreate a radio broadcast of a famous home run call in this fun activity for the whole family in the museum’s Bullpen Theater.
• Visit with a Vendor: (2 p.m.) Why do fans eat hot dogs at the ballpark? How much does that vendor’s case weigh? Can fans buy sushi at the ballpark? Learn the answers to all of these questions and more during a Visit with a Vendor in the Sacred Ground Exhibit on the Third Floor.
• So You Think You Know Baseball?: (4 p.m.) Find out how well you know your baseball? Members of the Hall of Fame team will try to stump contestants each day in the Bullpen Theater.
The Hall of Fame also has Hands-On History Stations, which are hosted at various times throughout the museum. According to the release, Hands-On History Stations illustrate the connection between the National Pastime and American History.
