MILFORD — The Cooperstown
girls soccer team
avenged a loss to Milford last
year and opened the 2008
season with a convincing 5-1
victory in Milford Tuesday.
Two new faces scored
three of Cooperstown’s five
goals, as Eryn Bass netted
the first two and Molly Pearlman
another. Laura Rowley
and Laura Derouin rounded
out the scoring, while Chandler
Prouty scored Milford’s
lone goal in the first half to
make it 2-1. Cooperstown
goalie Katie Wilhelm had 10
saves.
``It’s a great way to start
our season,’’ said CCS head
coach Jennifer Pindar. ``With
a lot of new faces we played
well together and played as a
team.’’
The Lady Redskins will
head to the Marcellus Tournament
tonight (Thursday)
and will play the hosts under
the lights at 7:30 p.m. The
consolation game is Saturday
at 2 p.m. and the championship
game is 4 p.m. Saturday.
The other teams are
Clinton and IHC.
Milford, which beat Family
School in its opener last
Friday, play another nonleague
game at Margaretville
today and open the Tri-
Valley league schedule at
Laurens on Monday. Milford
is the four-time defending
Tri-Valley East champion.
