Got quilts? If you’re the Cooperstown Village Library, the answer is a resounding “Yes.” In all, 117 traditional and contemporary quilts produced by members of the Fenimore Quilt Club are on display through Feb. 26 in a show  hosted by the CooperstownArt Association.

The array of offerings includes lap quilts, bed quilts, pillows and wall hangings. Retired teacher Lois Edwards of Cooperstown, one of the quilters as well as a volunteer at the library, said involvement in the Fenimore Quilt Club can help members learn and appreciate sewing techniques they may otherwise have never heard about.

“People are fun to work with and we have little projects we work on together once in a while,” Edwards said Tuesday.

“If you have a problem with a quilt project, you can bring it in to a meeting and there is probably going to be somebody there who can help you with it.”

Members of the club are on hand at the library’s gallery each day to explain their craft and discuss the quilts on exhibit. Some of those quilts  are being offered for sale, withprices ranging from $25 to $3,100, Cooperstown Art Association Director Janet Erway said.

Many of the quilts will remain the possessions of the quilters and are so noted as not for sale.

“This is one of our most popular shows of the entire year,” Erway said. “Quilt shows draw people from a very wide area.”

Besides being regaled by the colorful and original quilts, those attending the show can purchase supplies for their own quilting projects. The proceeds from the sales of these donated fabric scraps, pieces, yardage and quilt books and magazines are donated by the Fenimore Quilt Club to the Cooperstown Food Pantry at the First Presbyterian Church. Last year, the club raised about $250 for the pantry, Edwards said.

Donations collected at the door go to the association. If a quilt is sold, 70 percent of the proceeds goes to the artist and the remainder goes to the art association.

The show also features a star pattern, queen-size raffle quilt, which was made by all Fenimore Quilt Club members. Tickets are $1 each, or six for $5. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit the club. The winning ticket will be drawn Feb. 26.

The gallery is open daily for the duration of the quilt show.  The gallery hours are: from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
