“Quilts & Coverlets” will be presented by the Otsego Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut Street. The event will benefit the Chapter’s General James Clinton Scholarship Fund.
Heirloom and new quilts will be displayed in the sanctuary. Quilt entries for the display are welcome. For information call Merrilyn O’Connell at 547-9515.
Benefit drawings for a Civil War reproduction Soldier’s Quilt, mini-quilts, and a quilted handbag will take place at 2:30 p.m.
A luncheon will be served in the Fellowship Room at 12:30 p.m. A $20 donation for the fund for the luncheon and program may be payable to the Otsego Chapter DAR and mailed to Nanette Root, 151 Lippitt Development Road, Cooperstown, NY 13326 or call 547-5482. Following the luncheon, a special program on heritage quilts in the DAR museum will be presented by Joan Sondergaard, NYS DAR Registrar and quilter.
The National Society, DAR, founded in 1890, is a national not-for-profit service organization with a commitment to furthering education, preserving American history, and promoting patriotism.
