---- — Democrat Tom Hohensee won a one-year unexpired term on the Otsego Town Board in the only contested local town race in Tuesday’s election. Hohensee received 938 votes, according to unofficial results, defeating his opponent Paul Russo, who received 749 votes in a large voter turnout.
Otsego County voters favored President Barack Obama over Republican Mitt Romney by a margin of 58 to 40 percent.
Democratic Sen. Kristen Gillibrand was elected to her first full term.
In the U.S. House of Representatives 19th district Chris Gibson defeated Julian Schreibman.
State Senator James Seward defeated challenger Howard Leib in the 51st District, and Bill Magee won another term in the 121st state Assembly District.
