Cabin Fever Film Series to begin Jan. 7

The Fenimore Art Museum, The Glimmerglass Festival and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will present the seventh annual Cabin Fever Film Series on Fridays in January and February.

According to organizers, this season’s series, “Cabin Fever Saves the Day,” will feature films that include heroes such as “The Incredibles,” “The Pink Panther” and “Annie Oakley.”

The film screenings are free and open to the public and run Jan. 7 through Feb. 25 at either the Fenimore Art Museum auditorium or the National Baseball Hall of Fame Grandstand Theater. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and patrons should use the main entrances at both locations.

Refreshments will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting area organizations. For the fourth year, Augur’s Books is sponsoring a book raffle at each film showing.

Winners will receive a copy of a book related to the film being presented.

Organizers said film ratings vary. Captions are available for most films for the hearing impaired.

The schedule is as follows:

Jan. 7: “Carmen,” a Francesca Zambello production (NR, 2007) Running time: 152 minutes Location: Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium With Anna Caterina Antonacci and Jonas Kaufmann bringing rare intensity to the drama of Carmen and Done José.

Jan. 14: “Batteries Not Included” (PG for some violence and language, 1987) Running time: 105 minutes Location: Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium The last five tenants of 817 East 8th Street need a miracle to prevent a real estate developer from tearing down their tenement and destroying everything they own.

Jan. 21: “The Incredibles” (PG for violence, 2004) Running time: 121 minutes Location: National Baseball Hall of Fame, Grandstand Theater

From the wizards at Pixar comes this hilarious adventure of Bob Parr, formerly known as Mr. Incredible, who, along with his family had to be put into the witness protection program.

Jan. 28: “The Pink Panther” (NR, 1964) Running time: 115 minutes Location: Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium The inveterate bungler, Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) of the Paris police, is the sort of man whose wife is not only two-timing him, but is doing so with the very masterful jewel thief he’s been assigned to catch.

Feb. 4: “Annie Oakley” (NR, 1935) Running time: 91 minutes Location: Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium A highly fictionalized film based on the life of the famous markswoman Annie Oakley, played by Barbara Stanwyck, and the competitor she fell in love with, played by Preston Foster.

Feb. 11: “Lilo & Stitch” (PG for mild action, 2002) Running time: 85 minutes Location: National Baseball Hall of Fame, Grandstand Theater

A Disney-animated feature set in Hawaii that follows 5-year-old Lilo, a peculiar little girl who loves animals.

Feb. 18: “Glory” (R for language and adult content, 1989)

Running time: 122 minutes Location: Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium A dramatic account of the American Civil War’s first allblack regiment, led by the idealistic and privileged northern white commander Colonel Robert Gould Shaw (Matthew Broderick), who is fighting not only the enemy, but also convention and prejudice.

Feb. 25: “Miracle” (PG for language and some rough sports action, 2004) Running time: 130 minutes Location: National Baseball Hall of Fame, Grandstand Theater

Walt Disney Pictures brings to the screen the amazing story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team, which stunned the heavily favored Soviet squad in the semifinals.
