The Northeast Otsego
Area 4-H Public Presentation
Event was held Tuesday, Feb.
9, at the Springfield Community
Center.
4-H members from several
area 4-H Clubs participated
in this annual public speaking
event. Members gave an
Illustrated Talk, Demonstration,
Recitation or Speech.
They were evaluated and
scored by a panel of judges
on such points as appearance,
voice clarity, eye
contact, substance of the
presentation, use of visual
displays and summary.
The scores were then averaged
to obtain their award according
to the Danish Award
System resulting in a Blue,
Red or White Award.
Those members achieving
a Blue Award are now eligible
to go on to participate in the
Regional 4-H Public Presentation
Event, which will be held
on March 27, at the Chenango
Forks High School.
Results of the Event are as
follows: Joseph Armstrong,
Jason Armstrong, Travis
Graig, Lucas Zenir, and Madeline
Zenir all of the Cherry
Valley Springfield Apple
Blossoms 4-H Club received a
Blue Award.
Anna Greene and Megan
Greene of the Otsego County
Ewes NÆ Friends 4-H Club
received a Blue Award.
Samantha Fanion of the
Glimmerglass Gallopers 4-H
Club received a Blue Award.
Eden Griger and Tessa
Griger of the Otsego County
Dairy Goat 4-H Club received a
Blue Award.
The Springfield Community
Center provided the use
of their facility while Richfield
SpringsÆ McDonalds and
Price Chopper provided
refreshments for the event.

Two more events will
be held at the county level
before the members go on to
the regional and state levels.
They are the Western Otsego
County Area _ Feb. 27, at
Morris Central School at 9
a.m. and Southeast Otsego
County Area _ March 1, at
Schenevus Central School at
5 p.m.
The public is encouraged to
attend so that members will
get the experience of speaking
before a large audience.
