FoMA to present 16th annual Cabaret Night

The 16th annual Friends of Cooperstown Central School Music and Art Cabaret Night will heat up Friday evening.

The event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Cooperstown High School.

A full lineup of musical entertainment is on tap this year, ranging from a duet by Jacob and Ethan Russell to the other end of the age spectrum, the Not Quite Over the Hill Singers. Rebecca Burke-Sciallo will emcee the evening. Singers Henry Bauer, Desmond Brown, Jake Burnham, Georgia Hren-Saphier, Liz Kenison, George Landon, Virginia Ofer, Julia Robinson, and Anna Sams will perform solos or duets.

Nate and Josh Olmstead, Joey Katz, and the quartet of Toby and Abby Wilcox, Julien Miller, and Eamonn Maguire will entertain with instrumental selections.

Several school ensembles will perform, including Harmonia, the Middle School and High School Jazz Bands, and the fourth and fifth-grade instrumental groups.

Faculty members slated to take the stage include Michael Toulson, Tim Iversen, Sal Salvaggio, and Rebecca Burke-Sciallo.

Perennial community favorites Native Sons and Small Town Big Band will also be appearing. Local band Cheese of the Misty Ceremony will once again close the show.

A Brooks Bar-B-Q dinner will be served from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at tables decorated with artwork of Kristen Karasek’s and Eileen Murphy’s students. The cost for dinners is $10/ half chicken and $7/quarter, and takeouts will be available. A raffle drawing supported by donations from over 20 local arts organizations and businesses will cap the evening’s festivities.

Proceeds from Cabaret Night will be used by the Friends of CCS Music and Art to support music and arts education at CCS and to fund Summer Scholarships, Art Awards, and the Middle School Drama Club. FoMA meets the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the high school faculty room, and new members are always welcome.
