The Cooperstown Foundation for Excellence
in Education (CFEE) is hosting a
talent show on March 12 in the Sterling
Auditorium.
According to CFEE
Chair Stephanie Bauer,
organizers are still looking
for participants.
``We are hoping for a
broad variety of talent,’’
said Bauer.
We are open to a mixture
of acts, said Bauer.
We are looking for musicians,
poets, dancers,
comedians, jugglers, actors
or any other family friendly
entertainment
for an evening of indoor
winter fun, she added.
According to Bauer, the goal is to
have 15 or 20 acts for the first show,
which will take place from 7 p.m. to 9:30
p.m.
Bauer said there will not be any judging.
She said it would not be fair to have
a second grader compete against a high
school student. Because there could be
a huge age difference between participants,
organizers felt it would be best
to keep the event as a showcase where
everyone can just have fun instead of
having a competition, she said.
``I think it will be an entertaining
evening for all age groups to enjoy,’’ said
Bauer.
Anyone living in the Cooperstown
Central School district can register to
perform. Registration is free and forms
are available at the high school main
office and at the Cooperstown Village
Library.
Donations will be accepted at the
door. Interspersed with the talent will
be an auction of gift baskets and desserts
donated by local
businesses, according to
Bauer.
Bauer said she
dropped off 24 forms
at the high school main
office and sent forms
to students in grades
2-5. She said she has
received four registration
forms so far, but people
can register up to the
day of the event.
According to Bauer,
the CFEE has been
around for about six
years and functions like an academic
booster club by providing funding and
resources for learning beyond those
funded through the regular school
budget. Bauer said CFEE has funded
things such as Story Laurie, the summer
reading program and a poet in
residence. She said the organization has
sent letters to various groups asking for
financial support throughout the years,
but wanted to establish a more public,
yearly fundraiser.
