Penny Harvest
went well
On Friday, Oct. 30, Ms.
Teresa Gorman, Principal
of Cooperstown Elementary
School, presented me with
a check for $694.30 to help
fund a well in a developing
country. This is the amount
that the Elementary students
collected during the
month of October when
they held a Penny Harvest.
They have more pennies
to count, so their donation
will go over the $700 mark.
My heartfelt thanks go
to Ms. Gorman, Principal of
Cooperstown Elementary
School, Ms Christine Mc-
Brearty-Hulse, School
Counselor, who helped coordinate
the Penny Harvest,
and all of the teachers
and students who so enthusiastically
participated in
the drive.
You did a fantastic job.
It takes $5,000 to dig a
well, and with this check
and thanks to the donations
made by so many others
of you, we are only short
of our goal by about $700.
I thank you all and the
recipients of our well will
thank you for giving them
clean water and making
such a positive change in
their lives.

Cooperstown
Pancake Day a
success
Lyn Edinger and Scott
Barrett, Co-chairs of the
52nd annual Cooperstown
Rotary Pancake Day, would
like to extend their thanks
to all of the Rotarians and
many members of the community
who helped with
and supported this important
Rotary fundraiser.
Special thanks to John
Irvin and the Otesaga Hotel
for their generous donation
of applesauce and sausage.
To Bill Michaels and the
Fly Creek Cider Mill for
their donation of cider; to
Roger Smith for all that he
does to aid the event; the
Cooperstown Vets Club for
their generosity in allowing
us to use their kitchen and
dining room and Ted Hargrove
for providing valuable
support as well.
Pure maple syrup purchased
from Bruce Phillips,
in Hartwick, provided the
finishing touch to an excellent
meal.
As always, the funds the
Rotary club raises, through
this and other events, will
provide funding to area
groups who request donations.

Thanks for
your support
I want to say thank you
to each and every one of you
who supported me with
your vote in the recent election
I was in awe with the
large number of you who
were willing to place your
trust in me.
I also want to encourage
all of you to attend town
board meetings and if possible
county board meetings.
Together, even in
these trying times, we can
make a difference. Remeber
that word ``together.’’
Thank you again.

`Night’ was
well-attended
I am writing to send a
big thank you to all the participants
and supporters of
the first ``Night at Our Museum’’
held at Fenimore Art
Museum on Saturday, Nov.
7. It was a fun-filled ``afterhours’’
celebration attended
by visitors of all ages. Children
and parents were
singing and swinging to the
hip music of Uncle Rock.
Students of the Cooperstown
Graduation Program
donned historic costumes to
convincingly take on the
roles of characters depicted
in our paintings.
This event would not
have been possible without
the support of many organizations
and businesses in
Cooperstown.
We were pleased to host
interactive activities offered
by our cultural partners:
Brookwood School,
Cooperstown Art Association,
Clark Sport Center,
Hyde Hall, National Baseball
Hall of Fame and Museum,
and Paperkite Creative
Communications.
Other cultural partners
supporting this event included:
Cooperstown Performing
Arts, Friends of
the Library, Smithy-Pioneer
Gallery, and Cooperstown
PTO.
I thank everyone who
made this evening possible
with their enthusiastic involvement,
especially our
business partners: Barnyard
Swing, Cooperstown
Book Nook, Cooperstown
Cookie Company, Davidson’s
Jewelry & Auger’s
Book Store, Little Bo’tique/
Blue Sky and Paperkite
Creative Communications.
We were so pleased to
welcome many young visitors
for their first art museum
experience and hope
it will encourage a life-long
enjoyment of museums.

- Our Readers' Opinions Regarding the April 4 letter from Margaret McGown et al, I understand why the letter's authors are disappointed with the decision of Otsego Land Trust to discontinue renting private dock space. All concerned should understand that we did not take any actions without careful consideration and ultimate approval by our Board of Directors.
- Please Click Here We read, with great interest, the article regarding Brookwood Point and the statement by Mr. Harry Levine that the Otego Land Trust is in need of donors to keep up the property and raise enough money to match the Historic Byways grant.
- In Our Readers' Opinions The organizers of the seventh annual Empty Bowls fundraiser would like to thank everyone who volunteered, donated and attended our event on March 2.
- Our readers' opinions I find myself in the awkward position of asking for your vote for the unopposed position of village trustee for a three-year term in the March 19 election.
- Please Click Here I was pleased to see that there will be paid parking on Main Street next summer. Now, we might finally find a way to repair our old streets.
- In our readers' opinions Why the hullabaloo over my Redskins?
- OUR READERS' OPINIONS
- Our Readers' Opinions The name Redskins has been used with pride and respect since the 1920s. It has been twisted to make many feel that they are racial and not respectful.
- OUR READERS' OPINIONS
- Our Readers' Opinions: Dec. 20, 2012 The Cooperstown Friends of Football Committee would like to thank everyone that helped support us in 2012. Your generous contributions at the Hartwick Breakfast and other fundraisers allowed us to provide the players, cheerleaders and coaches with individual and team photos and buttons, bag lunches for away games, a homecoming game under the lights, awards banquet, modified pizza party, team gifts, and team video.
