of Bassett’s 2009 New Year’s
Eve Gala, we’re proud to announce
that ``Carnaval Maravilhosa,
a Mardi Gras Ball,’’ and
its auctions and raffle raised
approximately $240,000 in
support of Bassett Healthcare’s
radiology and imaging
capital needs.
Much of our annual fundraiser’s

volunteers all. We also

Leo Club
thanks community
The Cooperstown Leo Club
would like to thank all who
attended last Friday’s concert,
``Dentist Unplugged.’’ It was a
great success and one of the
few fundraising events for the
club.
Our gratitude goes out to
Dr. Paul Weber, one of the
Leo advisors, for holding this
annual concert on our behalf.
We also extend out thanks
to the Cooperstown Concert
Series for giving us the
concession for their concert,
``Crooked Still,’’ held the following
evening, and to the
community who are supporting
our charitable efforts.
This has been a busy season
of service for the Leo Club.
We held a food drive for the
Cooperstown Food Bank
and will be holding one for
the Hartwick Food Pantry
in February. Each Saturday,
members are at the Farmers’
Market to help the elderly or
infirm who need assistance
carrying bags to their cars.
Recently we helped set up
for the annual Christmas
Concert at Christ Church,
unloaded Christmas trees for
the Lions Club sale, and have
done service projects for the
Friends of the Library, the
Angel Network, the Chamber
of Commerce and other community
charitable agencies.
Last fall, twenty Leos set
out around the village raking
lawns for those who might
have had a hard time on their
own. The money we raise
supports donations to local
and international charities,
and helps fund educational
experiences for Leos. We
invite you all to attend the
Lions Club Pancake Breakfasts
on Winter Carnival Weekend,
Feb. 6 and 7, where the Leos
combine service and fundraising.
As an active and able
service club, we take pride
in being available to help
local non-profit organizations.
