  • Boys to play at 4 p.m.

    Section Three Class C champion Cooperstown will play at 4 p.m. Saturday against Section Four winner Elmira Notre Dame in a state quarterfinal at Le Moyne College.
    It was announced following Cooperstown’s 72-58 victory over Beaver River in the Class C final Sunday at the Carrier Dome that the game would start at noon. It is also listed in the print edition as starting at noon.
    Elmira Notre Dame (19-2) beat Groton, 60-54, Saturday in the Section Four final.
    Cooperstown is 20-1.

  • Correction: Cooperstown boys to play Sunday


    The Cooperstown boys basketball team will  face Beaver River at the Carrier Dome at 11 a.m. Sunday in Syracuse. The date was incorrect in a story in today's print editions.

    Barring a challenge from an independent candidate, it appears Village Trustee Jeff Katz will become the next mayor of Cooperstown.

  • Pacherille accepts plea agreement

    Anthony Pacherille agreed Thursday to plead guilty to second-degree attempted murder* and to be sentenced to 11 years in state prison, the Daily Star has been told. The maximum sentence is 25 years.

  • Cooperstown 4th of July events happening Friday

    Fourth of July festivities are planned to take place at Lakefront Park in Cooperstown on Friday.

    The Cooperstown Community Band will perform at 8 p.m., followed by fireworks at dusk. The Cooperstown Rotary will provide concessions.

    If it rains, festivities will take place on Saturday, instead.
